Soccer Club

Metro Blaze Blind Soccer was first founded by Ricky Castaneda and John Gonzalez who wanted to start a blind soccer team in Fort Worth, TX. Since 2022, blind soccer has been our organization’s fastest growing sport. Through blind soccer, our organization is able to spread awareness through blind soccer demonstrations for both kids and adults.

Our blind soccer open practices take place nearly every weekend for all ages and all vision and skill levels are welcome.

what is blind soccer?

Blind soccer is an exciting, fast-paced sport designed for athletes of all levels of visual impairment. The game is played with a smaller ball that rattles so players can hear it, with four blind players and one sighted goalie per team. To ensure fairness, all field players wear eye shields and rely on sound, touch, and communication to navigate the field. Safety rules like calling out ‘voy’ and using ‘bumpers’ help reduce collisions, while guides and goalies provide direction. With teamwork, strategy, and determination, blind soccer breaks barriers and proves that the beautiful game is for everyone.

For more information about the sport, feel free to check out the U.S. Association of Blind Athletes.
