Dia de los Muertos
Come check out Metro Blaze and participate in a blind sports demonstration at the Victory Forest Community Center. This is a free Hemphill Mutual Aid event, so come out and bring the family to enjoy free crafts, face painting, and loteria! Local businesses will be available for shopping, as well as food vendors. We look forward to seeing you there!
Texas Bvi fall field fest
Come out and join in on the accessible sports field day fun at the Texas BVI Field Fest hosted by The Lighthouse of Houston and in partnership with Houston Dynamo and Dash. Both youth and adults are welcome to participate. Be sure to register through the link below!
The morning will begin with youth activities from 9:30 am–12:00 pm, followed by a community lunch from 11:00 am–1:30 pm. In the afternoon, adult activities run from 12:30–2:30 pm, with two fields to participate in:
Field 1: Introduction to Sports – Blind Soccer, Beep Baseball, Blind Tennis, and Blind Fencing.
Field 2: Field Day Games – Competitions like Tug of War, Long Jump, Ball Toss, Running with Tethers, and more.
Goalball Event
Crosby Recreation Center in Carrollton with Metro Blaze will be hosting a goalball event. All are invited to come experience the fast-paced, action-filled sport of goalball, designed for blind and visually impaired athletes. Whether you’re a player, volunteer, or first-time spectator, this is a great opportunity to get involved, learn, and be part of our growing adaptive sports community. Come out, cheer on our athletes, and see what Metro Blaze is all about!
2nd Annual Mayor Young’s White Cane Walk
The City of White Settlement and White Settlement ISD will be hosting their 2nd Annual Mayor Young’s White Cane Walk on Saturday, October 18, at 10 a.m. The walk will start at the Senior Center parking lot at 8211 White Settlement Road to Saddle Road and back to the Senior Center.
Come enjoy refreshments, snacks, and a musical instrument demonstration, while learning about the challenges the visually impaired face and ways you can support them. Metro Blaze has been invited to join in the walk so come out to support our blind community!
North TX White Cane Safety Day
Join us at the pavilion at Fort Worth Police and Firefighters Memorial for the 16th annual North Texas White Safety Day Celebration. The goal of NTX White Cane Safety Day is to raise awareness and celebrate the independence of persons with blindness/low vision. Come out and listen to our very own co-founders John and Ricky, as well as our Board President Cheyenne Meyer, present as guest speakers!
