Goalball teams
Metro Blaze’s goalball teams were created after many of our blind soccer players expressed interest in branching out into other adaptive sports. With the addition of both men and women goalball teams, Metro Blaze expanded its mission and became Metro Blaze Blind Athletes of Texas, reflecting our commitment to providing opportunities across multiple blind sports.
Our goalball practices are open to all ages and all vision and skill levels are welcome.

what is goalball?
Goalball is a dynamic sport created exclusively for athletes with visual impairments. Played on a gym court with a ball containing bells, the objective is to roll the ball into the opponent’s net while the other team blocks using their bodies. Teams of three rely on sound, touch, and silence in the gym to compete, guided by tactile court markings. With eyeshades for fairness and protective padding for safety, goalball is one of the most popular blind sports—challenging, competitive, and empowering.
For more information about the sport, feel free to check out the U.S. Association of Blind Athletes.
